February 20

This week we were short a few people, some from illness and some due to family travels. The morning started out with some terrible visibility. I decided to train in the park in the morning so we could get to Davanza's for lunch at an early hour. After lunch we made our way to Jupiter where we made lap after lap on some difficult terrain. We basically turned left off of the chair and dropped in a little further down the trail each lap. We skied a lot today, unfortunately I neglected to bring my camera today so I don't have any film or pictures of the day. Next week there will be some pictures I promise.

January 9 through February 13

The first few weeks of January we spent almost all of our time skiing in the terrain park. Finally on January 23rd we got snow. We tried to make the most of it. With the blessed snowfall, we finally got to ski off piste. We skiied moguls, trees and bowls. True to my reputation we also built our own jumps. Our best one was in Scott's bowl, though we weren't allowed to leave it up, we were able to enjoy it for a while before destroying it. During this period each boy in the group has been given some feedback on their skiing, and I'm glad to say that I have seen some improvement.

January 2, back from break

Since December was pretty weak snowfall wise, I chose to focus on terrain park and freestyle skiing. I felt this was safer than trying to ski Jupiter with no snow. We spent the morning reviewing some basic freestyle skills, and discussed ATML. ATML stands for approach, take-off, manuever and landing. This is the basic parts of any feature one does in the park. We than tried to get everyone to slide a box sideways. Most were able to do it, that is those who were willing to give it a try. Those who didn't you know who you are.

Dec 19, First Day of AMP

First day of AMP is always a little slow. It involves trying to match up kids with teachers. I had 3 returning students from the last few seasons, and we added 5 more to give our group a total of 8. The line up has changed since that first day, but we do have it dialed in now.

AMP is here again!

Hello all, I decided to keep a blog for this season. As you can see I haven't been diligent about starting and updating it. Any way the season is half over, and I'm going to make a post for each day we have had AMP and let you know what your kids have been up to.

First things first, for those of you who who have kids that haven't skied with me before, let me introduce myself. My name is Tad Fuller, I'm kind of the old man of the AMP coaches, both in tenure with AMP and in number of years on this earth. I'm currently attending school at the University of Utah studying Parks, Recreation and tourism. I have been teaching at PCMR for 6 years now, and I taught 2 years at Deer Valley. I grew up in Bountiful and currently reside nearby in Woods Cross. I really grew up on the hills of Deer Valley, skiing with the instructors that my father taught with. I have been married nearly 10 years and have one 2 year old son named Logan.
